In
this book, Bob Roth has crafted a detailed map for college
students, recent graduates and young adults as they start
on the road to a successful post-college life. While most
young adults are concerned about how they are going to
succeed after they graduate, they generally do not have
a specific plan or they do not start planning early enough.
One of the author’s stated purposes is to enable
the readers to develop their plan while still in school.
The first of the four realties outlined in the book
is “You can be more successful in college”.
According to the author, it is important, if not critical,
that the individual have a have a plan while in school,
such as goal setting. A benefit of having a plan is that
it will aid the college student once he begins the job
search process, for he would have already acquired the
techniques and experience are directly analogous to what
would be and is needed in a corporate position.
“It takes an effective job search to land the
job you want” is the second reality, and in this
chapter the author gives various procedures and
